About Alexander
Through his many years of experience in the elite sports world, Personal Trainer Alexander Hobbs has developed a sound understanding of how well the body can perform and how to help fix the many issues that can arise from the field or everyday life. Through the integration of fundamental basics and progressions and regressions of movement patterns, he has created a foolproof personal training system that has helped many clients recover from injuries – and, most importantly, help reduce the chance of reinjury in the future.
Specialisations
- Injury / Movement Rehabilitation
- Athletic Performance / Sport-Specific Training
- Boxing Training
Training Philosophy
If my training philosophy could be summed up into one word, it would have to be “‘BASICS”. Practice the basics and get really good at them. This will build you a good foundation that will not only get you strong and fix injuries but also help to reduce the risk of reinjury somewhere down the line.
Education, Experience & Achievements
- 4+ Years Working With Clients Rehabilitating All Types of Injuries
- Certificates III & IV in Fitness
- Certified Sports Coach
- Experienced Boxing Trainer
- Amateur Boxing (Competitive Background)
3 Fun Facts
- My Dad’s side of the family is Kiwi and my uncle was the captain of the New Zealand All Blacks in the 80s.
- Growing up I played a lot of Rugby Union but after far too many injuries and a few years away from sports I had a complete change, and now I train as an amateur boxer, with the goal of moving into the professional ranks in the future.
- My very first job was working at Boost Juice In Newtown when I was 14. I got paid $9 an hour on a Sunday because apparently my boss paid a “higher average wage” instead of the standard weekend rates. I believe I did 3 shifts.

“I have been doing personal training with Alex for the past 18 months and have learnt a lot. I came in with pretty unrealistic ideals but I’ve learnt through Alex that progress will always be progress, no matter how small, and that consistency is key, as opposed to rushed results. He’s always ready to answer any and all questions I have, and is very informative and knowledgeable. He has grown to be not only my Personal Trainer but a great friend in the past 18 months. Wonderful person!”
